Hurrah we finally have a (tentative) opening date for Gentle Dental... Monday July 6th. We, Rob and Niamh, have been at work most days this week seeing clients who had contacted us with difficulties and planning their next steps. The team joined us for a time on Wednesday and we had a socially distanced lunch in the lounge, which thankfully is big enough to accommodate that. It was so lovely to see everyone in the flesh rather than on zoom.
Thank you to all of you who replied to our email to you about postponing your hygienist appointment in July/August. We really appreciate your help in clearing the backlog. Many of you were apologetic if for some reason you could not postpone and we want to reassure you that this is no problem and we are happy to accommodate that.
We are awaiting the final PPE delivery on Monday and once we definitely have this in our sticky fingers we will be in touch to start booking. If you have an appointment pre booked in July/August and want to keep it please be aware we may need to alter the time. We will be posting a blog again next week with an update on opening etc.
Clients who have been in to the practice this week have commented on how nice our hand sanitiser is. The product is from a UK company and CE marked. It does not contain alcohol so it is kind to skin. All the research has been done to back up its efficacy. The initial recommendation for hand gel to contain 60% alcohol was because the WHO (World Health Organisation) knew that worked on Covid-19 but they did not know what else would. So for speed they were suggesting an alcohol based hand sanitiser. However this product has all the research to how that it is effective without the alcohol. Moving forward the reception team will be the most recognisable as the treatment room team will be greeting you with masks already in place. It is a newish team so for some of you this may be your first introduction to them. So whilst we are working hard to reopen the practice we thought we'd post a bit about the team.
Victoria
Most of you know Victoria. She has been with us for 4 years and recently came back from maternity leave in January so has had unexpected further time to spend with young Sophie over the last 3 months. Sophie keeps her nice and busy with long walks and getting messy with lots of messy play. Victoria loves baking so she has managed to get some baking in during lockdown as well as some gardening with Craig her husband.
Jodie
Jodie has been with us since September last year. She has been in the dental industry for 5 years. She genuinely loves it especially meeting new people. She has a 2 year old Daughter, Maisy. Jodie loves baking in her spare time. During lockdown Jodie has been keeping Maisy busy she has also been enjoying a new exercise routine and getting fitter.. with the odd bake in between!
Lucy
Lucy joined Gentle Dental in February. She has been in the dental industry for 21 years. She lives on a farm with her husband Adam and son Rowan and their Lagatto dog, Hattie. During lockdown the farm had some new arrivals...newborn calves. So Rowan and Lucy have been looking after them. Lucy and her family have been spending lots of time outside enjoying the farm along with some gardening, baking, school work and climbing trees.
Patricia
Patricia returned to us in February after a 3 year break. Previously she was with us 12 years. She has 3 cavalier king Charles spaniels Bertie, Dolly and Maisy. During lockdown Patricia has enjoyed taking the dogs on longer walks. She has kept her neighbourhood fed with her lovely baking and doing some decorating in her house.
We can't wait to welcome you all back to the practice very soon.
Take care and keep well
